Broadband pricing is already spiking as users flee TV to make up for lost revenues and consumers have no choice but to pay it. This will prevent consumers from saving money and will prevent real innovation in the cable industry, and could kill off streaming providers who don’t start paying the cable companies increasing fees for the privilege of reaching overcharged customers on their networks. Let’s not forget the deep impact these caps will start to have on Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo’s online gaming ecosystems. It’s very unfortunate that all of these players haven’t banded together to ensure our already weak net neutrality regulations don’t stick around to allow for a level playing field for anything that isn’t owned by a cable company.
