Asian companies are excellent at making thing better smaller and cheaper but almost all of them really struggle with Software. Also as you say the network effect is very difficult to break once it has been created.

Perhaps they could be copied, but it is difficult to break into a market where a company has built a digital ecosystem that already dominates due to the network effect?
