But to be honest to export a CD I would just ignore all of that bloatware and just rip the CD straight to your drive. Fairly easily done and that way you know that the tracks are clean rather than impregnated with whatever DRM and tracking software that Amazon has decided to lace the music with. This kind of attempts at control pretty much always fail IMHO which is why Apple has a DRM free option for its tunes.

I hope that you’re well. I’m continuing to follow your thoughts with interest.

I bought a newly released CD for my daughter yesterday from Amazon as a present for her friend. I told her that I could rip/download it immediately so she could listen to it too, as I’ve found with previous purchases some time ago.

Before I could download the CD I had to download their “Amazon Music App” which installed very quickly and, when launched, traced all of the music on my PC and presented me with an iTunes type interface to play it. It seemed quite good if I was going to be using Amazon a lot to buy music. It also gave me the option to load the music into the iTunes library, which I did. It didn’t give me an obvious route to export the tracks for my daughter but I found them in the iTunes library. I guess that they don’t want copies being made easily.

I wondered if you’d seen it as it seems a new app, treading on the toes of iTunes. I must just remember to cancel my trial of Amazon Prime within the thirty days!
