iPhone average weekly volume was up 6%. Pretty good considering iPhone X was the top seller, wasn’t available for 4 weeks of the quarter and sells for over three times the industry average price.

It shipped on 4th November, so was available for 9 weeks of Apple’s Q1. The iPhone 6S and 7 both shipped in September and were available for 12 and 13 weeks respectively. In his conference call, Tim Cook stated that iPhone X reached supply and demand balance at the end of January. The X outsold the 8s, so it appears that Apple could have sold many more Xs if they’d been shipping throughout the quarter.

Having no US tax charge against the figures (unlike Microsoft and Alphabet) helps too.
