Google has been moving a lot of APIs to Google Play. If an Android app needs Google Maps or hook into some other Google service that *seem* part of the OS, the “emulator” will probably not be enough in a phone that does not have Google Play installed.

So long as the device runs APKs, regardless of the source, then the lack of direct Play Store access may not be an issue. Great article!

According performance tests Myriad’s Turbo Dalvik implementation run Android apps around 3 times faster.
